Rose Wallace

Ceramic Artist

I employ original discarded objects, charged with meaning and concealed beauty as my starting point.

Whether it is an Eighteenth Century clay pipe, a 1950's jelly mould or a piece of contemporary plastic packaging, I believe the inherent value held within the transience of our collective domestic ephemera still has a story to tell us.

By calling upon the rich language of our ceramic heritage to make a new dialogue, I create a narrative captured within the permanence of the ceramic medium. My aim here is to make comment upon us all as today's consumers.

"In modern society, we buy so much but value so little. My ceramics aim to re-evaluate and challenge this notion."
